I'm Back
The month of September was a busy one. We've been busy at GenesisOne closing on a few new accounts, all while developing the brand. Haven't been able to blog much, but I'm back for the month of October.

Would You Sell Yourself At Walmart?
I'm working on closing on our first GenesisOne account today which includes drafting a proposal on the scope of creative work we plan to supply and the pricing to go with it. The level we're blessed to be doing business at requires that we set our prices according to the value our involvement adds to a project.
Wait, wait, wait..... Before I get ahead of myself;
Shout out to God for blessing us with this client, we haven't even officially "launched" yet but we were blessed enough to take a conference call all the way from Kenya this morning to discuss our creative involvement in branding and advertising an annual missions conference. We haven't spent a dime on advertising GenesisOne, we haven't even finished our website yet; we got this prospect on the strength of our individual merit & word of mouth. God is just good like that, we've gotta give Him the glory.
So like I was saying, as business owners we have the benefit of telling our clients what we're worth. We don't have to take wages based on what human resources decides, we get to make the choice. As business owners we all have this opportunity, it sounds wonderful, but the question is where are we selling ourself?
What are you worth in your mind? What is an hour of your time worth? If you were a product, where would you sell yourself?
Too many of us as business owners & entrepreneurs price ourselves WAY TOO LOW; we position ourselves as if we're a product at Walmart, slashing our prices in hopes that we'll impress the client. Some of us look at price as being a selling point for our product; that the lower our price is, the more appealing we are to prospective clients. In reality your price shouldn't be a selling point, it should be an indicator of the value you provide.
Don't put yourself on the clearance rack, you have to know your own value and find clients who are in the market for that value. You may think you'd lose business, but you'll never create wealth for yourself or anyone else by being the "bargain guy". I'm not suggesting you inflate your rates, but definitely DONT SELL YOURSELF CHEAP!

Quote of The Day
"Excellence, that's what I expect of myself every single morning from the very moment I wake up. All day long I breathe it; whenever I hold my breath, I think it. And every single night when I finally lay down to rest, I'm forced to burden myself with the task of figuring out how I can be even more excellent the next day."
- Eric Smallwood, The Young Mogul
"I Was Made For This"
Have you ever been in a position that you felt completely prepared for regardless of whatever obstacles were in your way? Those times when things just seem to click, and you get the feeling that your success is only dependent on how much effort you pour into it? I have, and as a matter of fact, that's exactly how I've been feeling for the past year. Thats what happens when you've found your calling & you're operating in your purpose.
I'm a firm believer in purpose. I think that those of us who find our purpose early in life are blessed, but it can take a lifetime to get there. Some of us already have an idea, at the very least, of what we want to do in this world; even still, many of us still have a lot of growing to do. Wherever you are in that journey, realize that every single one of us has a purpose and a unique skill set to accomplish our calling. We spend so much time perfecting skills that have nothing to do with our purpose, or anything for that matter, that many times purpose gets lost in the daily hustle of life.
Yea, I know you're nice at Halo & you're the best Madden player on your block, but how much of your life did it take you to get there? If you spend 3 hours playing video games, watch 4 television shows & get 8 hours of sleep a day, you're already giving up 54% of your life to entertainment & sleep!! That's more than half of all the time you've got. Somethings gotta give.
We've gotta be spending time doing the things that are going to put us in a better position to succeed, part of that is finding your calling, another part of that is setting goals, and the most important part of any of this is relentlessly working towards those goals like your life depends on it.
We only have so much time on this Earth to make all of our dreams come true. Find your purpose, operate in it.

Secret of Success
Most times, the only thing that separates those of us who reach our dreams & those of us who don't is that most people either don't have the time, or don't have the will to work hard. Period. When's the last time you cut off all distractions and spent a whole day developing your ideas? When's the last time you locked yourself in a room and spent day after day working towards your goals? Who's stopping you??
Success is a lifestyle decision; people should see success in your work ethic, it should be reflected in the excellence of your product, people around you should be able to tell you are working towards something. Ask yourself, if you're really putting everything you can into achieving your goals, how can it not be obvious? You shouldn't have the same amount of free time as the people around you, your conversation should be different; your mindset more focused. You can't say that you want success and live like everyone else, as a matter of fact, history tells plenty of stories of talented people who wanted so much, only to go so far.
We've gotta stay focused. Of course everybody has to take a break every so often, and I'm not suggesting that we spend every waking hour working; but let's keep our eyes on the prize. It's way too easy to slip up out here.
Business Cards Came in Today!
They came out nice, but these are only temporary cards though. We needed something to use for networking purposes in the meanwhile as we continued to develop the brand. As we get closer to our launch date I'll begin to reveal the official cards + promo spreads. Follow us on twitter @Genesis1Create
